What is Mise-en-scene

I researched mise-en-scene as its important to think about when showing, history, time, representations, key themes and the narrative of your story. This blog helped my knowledge of the importance of mise-en-scene and how it can change the meaning of a scene.

Mise-en-scene means how you dress a scene. It covers props, costume, prosthetic makeup, lighting, proxemics, facial expressions,  scenery and setting.  All in all, it's prosthetics and visuals in a scene.

It can tell you a lot about a character, whether you can trust them, what type of person they are and more. The costume allows characters to contracts with others.

For example, a unique prop that relates to an individual character in harry potter is their wands and animals. Props are used to create a sense of reality and make a scene more believable.

Set has a lot to consider whether the set is, light, dark traditional or modern, crowded or sparse.

Lighting represents intentions and emotion. colours grading, opacity, as well as the angles, is used to determine a character and their environment.
