Here are some of the facts and figures I found when researching information on plastic bottle consumption. This proved very insightful and intriguing to look into. I will refer back to this blog when producing my documentry so that I can integrate some of these fascinating facts to inform my documentry viewers.   

1907 was when plastics were invented by Dr. L. H. Backerland 

1947 plastics were commercially used as polyethylene was invented in 1950 was a cheaper and more mouldable plastic

2022 will see a 20% increase in plastic bottle waste. 

90% of plastic bottles used cannot and aren't recycled

Plastic is cheaper for companies to not make reusable or biodegradable 

24,000,000 litters of oil is needed to produce the billions of plastic bottles we see today
