ITV commissioning guidelines


Commissioning guidelines are integral to the regulation of media consumed by the general population. It helps to further more establish whether the media production suits the platform its being streamed on and whether the product has been paired with the correct target audience.

1) Make sure that the idea is suitable for the channel you are submitting to. e.g. right target audience.
2) Ensure the programmes schedule 
3) Grasp the motives as to why people will want to watch the programme. e.g. uses and gratifications       theory. 
4) Identify potential cross platforming opportunities.
5) Research your idea and secure the format in which your idea will be presented.
6) List everything and everyone needed in the production of your piece.
7) Ensure your proposal with the streaming platform is secure .
8) Ensure the idea is original and different from any other concept.


ITV have produced many recent good documentary's which have been successful and have managed to stick to all the eight guidelines. Here are some documentaries
